John Bonham, the bands drummer and argueably the greatest drummer of all time, died on September 25, 1980, in Clewer, United Kingdom
John died due to alchohol poisoning, on the day he died he started drinking early in the morning and didn't stop until the second he died, the band recorded throughout the day and at the end john fell asleep and never woke up. His death caused numerous repercussions such as; there were suicides around the nation, there were large memorial services all over the place and worst of all. The band broke up. But luckily they got back together after bonhams son took his fathers place and ended up being just as good. Robert Plant even commented on this and says that he felt almost as though John was really there with them. The band has not performed in a very long time due to creative differances between jimmy page and robert plant.
